The quick answer.
Angel Watch Series R Kids GPS Smartwatch is a kids smartwatch watch with case dimensions 40 mm wide × 50 mm long × 15 mm high at $149.99. We recommend it for a family looking for parent-managed calls, messaging, SOS and location functions on a child’s watch without social media or web browsing.
Why it belongs on the shortlist.
The Series R has a clear purpose: give a child a way to reach approved people while giving a parent call, message and location controls through the Angel app. The product page lists cellular voice and video calls, messaging, geofencing, class mode and an SOS button that can call up to three contacts. Angel also says the watch has no social media or web browsing. We like that focused setup for families who want communication tools without turning the wrist device into a general-purpose smartphone.
Built for contact rather than an open app library.
Angel lists cellular calls, video calls and messaging with parent-assigned contacts, plus class mode and no social media or web browsing. That gives the Series R a narrower purpose than a general smartwatch: a child can contact family through the watch, while the parent chooses who can reach it. The free Angel app is available for iOS and Android; it does not remove the need for a cellular plan.
Location and SOS are useful tools, not guarantees.
The product page lists GPS, Wi-Fi and cellular positioning, geofencing and an SOS button that can call up to three contacts. Angel publishes estimated accuracy ranges for the different positioning methods, but we have not independently measured them. Signal, network coverage and the surroundings can affect a location result, so use the features as a way to stay connected rather than a substitute for supervision or emergency services.
Plan for the mobile network.
The selected US option is the black Series R with a T-Mobile SIM. Angel says a SIM is required for registration and most functions, CDMA is not supported, and cellular service is billed by the network provider outside Wi-Fi. The app itself has no ongoing subscription fee. Check that the selected carrier and supported bands work where the wearer will use the watch, and include the recurring network cost in the ownership decision.
Measure the case and strap against the child’s wrist.
Angel’s general support fit guide gives a 40 mm width, 50 mm length and 15 mm height. It lists a 22 cm strap for wrist circumferences from 10 to 19 cm, with a larger strap offered separately, but does not identify the Series R specifically. Confirm these measurements with Angel, then compare the full footprint with a watch the child already wears. The Series R page calls the screen 1.44 inches, while the general fit guide lists 34 mm diagonally; confirm the model-specific display size if it matters to you.
Read the water claims alongside the warranty.
Angel’s Series R page states IP67 and warns that water damage is not covered by the warranty. A separate Angel technical-specifications page states IP65. We cannot resolve that discrepancy from the company’s published pages, so we would not choose the watch for swimming and would ask Angel to confirm the rating before wet use.

Before you choose
The Series R needs a compatible cellular SIM for most connected functions, and mobile-network service has an ongoing cost; Angel says there is no subscription fee for its app. The selected US option is T-Mobile SIM, and CDMA is not supported, so check local coverage and carrier compatibility.
